After several years of development and extensive testing with hundreds of customers, we are pleased to announce that our SOS FODMAP Wizard™ mobile app is now available in app stores. This will benefit anyone who needs to follow the FODMAP diet but doesn’t have access to — or can’t afford — a Monash-trained dietitian.
The FODMAP diet is very effective to manage digestive conditions like irritable bowel syndrome (IBS). It involves temporarily reducing intake of high FODMAP foods to improve symptoms. Once symptoms are significantly improved, it’s time to start the second phase: FODMAP reintroduction. Unfortunately, many people get stuck in the elimination phase and don’t move on to the reintroduction and personalization phases. This can lead to following a highly restrictive diet long-term, which can negatively impact both physical and mental health, as well as reduce gut microbiota diversity, including beneficial bacteria.
Our SOS FODMAP Wizard™ was specifically designed to address this problem. The Wizard guides users step-by-step through the three phases of the protocol. Each step is explained in detail through video clips recorded by expert Registered Dietitians. In addition, users have access at all times to a peer support group moderated by Registered Dietitians, where they can find reliable answers to their questions about the protocol and the diet. The Wizard has an adaptive algorithm that determines the quantities of reintroduction tests based on user-reported symptoms. Based on test results, the Wizard automatically generates a personalized table showing the amount that can be freely consumed for hundreds of foods, as well as recipes suitable for one’s individual tolerances as determined by the Wizard for each user.
The SOS FODMAP Wizard™ was the subject of an independent clinical study conducted by the University of Montreal Hospital Research Centre (CRCHUM), which demonstrated its effectiveness.
